INFANTS

Many parents report that after beginning chiropractic care for their infant they have seen less symptoms of colic, reflux and ear infections, as well as improved sleep patterns. Many parents choose within days of their child’s birth to bring their infant in for their first chiropractic exam.
Your infant’s spine, the housing and protection of their nervous system, will double in size by the age of two. Since the brain, spinal cord and nerves control your baby’s immune, digestion and elimination as well as respiratory systems it’s important to be sure that their spine develops correctly!

A child's natural curiosity about the world is accompanied by dramatic physical growth, weight gain and emotional development. From the time of the birth process, the spine (which houses the important nerve pathways of the spinal cord), can be injured in a variety of ways. This can cause the vertebrae that protect the spinal cord to lose their normal motion or position. Delicate nerve tissue can be damaged, resulting in interference with the brain's ability to control associated organs and tissues. Decreased muscle tone weakens the important support of the spine. Discs, blood vessels and other soft tissues can swell and become inflamed. The body responds with other abnormal bony growth and various systems through the body may malfunction. Nowhere do we see this more than the first year of life.
At Wilcox Family Chiropractic, we recognize the importance of periodic chiropractic check-ups to ensure healthy growth of the spine in the first year of life. The American Chiropractic Association endorses regular spinal examinations for infants.
CHILDREN
In their first years of life, children put their bodies through a lot of stress as they tend to bump and jar their spines in everyday activities. By pursuing chiropractic care, your child may experience improved sleep, behavior, attitude, and immune system function.
Today we find more parents bringing their children to chiropractors for day-to-day health concerns we’re all familiar with: colds, sore throats, ear infections, fevers, colic, asthma, tonsillitis, allergies, bed-wetting, infections, pains, falls, stomach-aches, and the hundred and one little and big things children go through as they grow up.
Chiropractic’s purpose is to remove interferences to the natural healing power running through the body. When that power is unleashed the healing that results may be profound.
